As with any drug, you’ll want to stop and ask a doctor if you experience any of the warnings as listed on the Prilosec OTC package label.
Stop use and ask a doctor if:
- Your heartburn continues or worsens
- You need to take this product for more than 14 days
- You need to take more than one course of treatment every four months
Before you begin to use Prilosec OTC, ask a doctor if you have:
- Had heartburn for more than three months. This may be a sign of a more serious condition.
- Heartburn with lightheadedness, sweating, or dizziness
- Chest or shoulder discomfort with shortness of breath; sweating; an uncomfortable sensation spreading to arms, neck, or shoulders; or lightheadedness
- Frequent chest discomfort
- Frequent wheezing, particularly with heartburn
- Unexplained weight loss
- Nausea or vomiting
- Stomach discomfort
